The AMSOIL Dahl Fuel Filter/Water Separator |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The AMSOIL Dahl Fuel Filter/Water Separator removes water and solid contaminants from fuel before it reaches the fuel pump and injection system. Water and solid contaminants reduce the effectiveness of fuel's lubricative coating on high precision injection components. If this protection continues to decrease, the results can include wear, erosion, surface pitting and eventually loss of pressure. Many existing fuel filters are not designed to remove significant amounts of water. They are designed to simply filter in only one step. To accomplish this, they must be porous enough to allow a sufficient volume of flow. This limits its filtering ability to between only 10 and 30 microns. Using a tighter media would plug up too quickly and the filter would need frequent element changes. The AMSOIL Dahl system has none of these shortcomings. Its dual chamber 3-stage fuel filter/water separators provide efficient water separation and contaminant filtration. The unique patented depressurize cone spreads the flow of the fuel. With more area to flow over, there is greater separation of water and dirt from the fuel. The AMSOIL Dahl system has less mechanical flow resistance than other separators, because the fuel only changes direction twice. The AMSOIL Dahl system removes virtually 100 percent of the water and most of the solid contaminants in the fuel. The AMSOIL Dahl system prolongs system life by eliminating pump and injector overhauls caused by water-contaminated fuel. It also reduces downtime spent repairing the fuel pump and injection system. The loss of income from only a few hours of downtime is greater than the cost of an AMSOIL Dahl system. The AMSOIL Dahl system includes a reverse flow valve that holds the prime in the fuel system by not allowing flow back to the tank during shut down. It also helps eliminate air entrapment because the inlet and outlet ports are at the top of the unit. The fuel changes direction only twice, creating less flow resistance and allowing longer pump and element life. Most solid contaminants are removed by the depressurizer cone in the bowl before reaching the filter element, which has extra media. These characteristics allow the element to last up to 40,000 miles under normal conditions.
